Dear Friends

Remember that Sunday at 10.30am is at St Peter’s this week.

A little word

An argument arose among them as to which one of them was the greatest. But Jesus, aware of their inner thoughts, took a little child and put it by his side, and said to them, ‘Whoever welcomes this child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me; for the least among all of you is the greatest.’                      Luke 9.46-48 (NRSV)

Jesus repeats a thought similar to this several times in the gospels. In a world that is often in thrall to and seduced by power, it is a helpful reminder of the counter-cultural call in following Jesus. How might we practise true humility? As shown to us by Jesus, the servant king.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for all the servant hearted people we see.
  • For those suffering the consequences of extreme weather, and those called to help mitigate our impact.
  • For all those who put on activities as they take a summer break.

If you are busy in the mornings, the Reflective evening service follows the same theme most weeks and is a lovely peaceful end to the day.
