Weekly news for 5.5.24

Dear Friends,

Hope you enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend

A little word

Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvellous things. Psalm 98.1 (CW)

The Psalm suggests to me that the marvellous things are not all historical, it is not all in the past. It is because those marvellous things are continuing that we need a new song. It is ever changing, always moving forward. Look for those marvellous things that God is doing in your life and in the lives of others, and sing them out.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for all the marvellous things you have seen.
  • For victims of violent attack and all those affected by it.
  • For our Asylum seekers locally, as the government rhetoric becomes more alarming.

Parking restrictions

Pitsmoor Road is currently dug up and controlled by traffic lights right outside the Church. If this is still in place on Sunday the only parking available adjacent to the Church will be on Nottingham Street. You might want to arrive in plenty of time to allow for a few more steps. Please leave the spaces on Nottingham Street for our less able bodied members.

Annual Church Meeting Elections

Thank you to all those who took part in our recent meeting. We wish to thank Will Ross and Ruth Crowley as they step down as Warden and Deputy/Lay Chair respectively.

We are pleased to announce that Blessing was re-elected as Warden and is joined by Mike Dennett. David Reid will be joining the team as Deputy Warden.

Christian Aid Big-Brekkie

On Sunday 12 May we will be thinking about the work of Christian Aid. From 10am we will serve breakfast baps and encourage you to make a generous donation to Christian Aid. We could do with a little extra help with serving, please volunteer to Ali Salmon or Karen Rodgers.
