Dear Friends,
It will be fantastic to see you all on Easter Sunday either at dawn or 10am. Don’t forget the clocks are going forward an hour!
A little word
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to …the Twelve. 1 Cor 15. 3-5 (NIV)
As Paul writes to the early Christians he emphasises that all we have remembered in these last few days are a fulfilment of the scriptures. Jesus is the long promised king. Jesus death was not an accident or mishap but God’s rescue mission. His bursting from the tomb is a sign and a comfort; to God’s power over death and sin and to the hope that lives in us. Happy Easter!
Things to pray for
- Give thanks for Christian sisters and brothers around the world celebrating the Easter hope.
- For the reconciliation that Easter speaks to, to be felt in the world at large.

Holy Week & Easter
Below is information about our services this week. Huw will opening the church on Good Friday for an informal chat over a cuppa about how we understand the events of good Friday. Speak to him for more information about times. Just to note the Easter Sunday Family Celebration starts at 10am so we have time for the Easter egg hunt afterwards.
Easter Egg Hunt
After the Family Celebration on Easter Sunday we will be having an Easter egg hunt for all the Church family! We would greatly appreciate any small egg donations for this. These can be dropped at church on Sunday, throughout the week, or on Easter Sunday itself. Let Will or Pip know. We hope lots of people will get involved!
Annual Church Meeting – 21 April after the service
Our meeting is only a few weeks away.
If you are not on the Church Electoral Roll and want to be added you need to fill in a form from the Welcome Desk. Deadline is Sunday 7 April.
We will as usual be electing Church wardens and deputies and there are also three places on the PCC. We desperately need someone to take on the role of Treasurer. Computer literacy and numeracy skills are needed but full training and support is available. We also need a new PCC secretary, accurate note taking and computer literacy are what is needed. Again full support will be given.
Could you serve our church in this way?
Cursillo Retreat
Cursillo is ‘A movement of the Church providing a method by which Christians are empowered to grow through prayer, study and action and enabled to share God’s love with everyone.’ The Cursillo weekend is held at Wilson Carlile Centre and are led by a team of lay people and clergy, who have all experienced a Cursillo weekend themselves. During the weekend participants (known as Cursillistas) will live, worship and learn together. Talks will be given by the leaders on some of the main areas of Christian life and faith. Also throughout the weekend there are group workshops, times of prayer and quiet reflection. The next weekend will be 10th – 12th May and bookings are now open. A few people from Christ Church have been on a weekend before and I am sure would be happy to talk about their experience. Will Gowers is going to be one of the Spiritual Directors on the weekend and has been a participant a few years ago as well. For more information or to get a booking form speak to Will or Yvonne.
