Weekly news for 7 Sept 2025

Dear friends,

During September we will be focussing on God’s creation, inspiring awe and wonder, and thinking about our use and misuse of this precious resource we call home.

A little word

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; Psalm 24.1 (NIV)

One of the Five marks of mission says ‘To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth’. As followers of the Creator, tasked with being good stewards, this is a vital part of our mission. The CofE is on a net-zero journey, we are signed up as a Bronze Eco-Church (and need to work towards our Silver award) and we as individuals need to demonstrate our love and care for people and planet in what we say, what we do, and how we live. Hopefully this month we will all be enthused to take a few more steps along that journey.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for God’s amazing and beautiful earth.
  • For those who lead our services and open up God’s word to us.
  • For all the activities and groups getting going again after the summer break.

This Week’s Headlines

Christ Church Pitsmoor Community week

This is running from 4-12 October. There will be an event or activity each day. Mark it in your diaries, full details coming next week.

Care4Calais

People seeking asylum are often lacking everyday basics that we take for granted. Volunteers with Care4Calais meet at CCP every month to distribute essentials for people living in hostels. They also provide a friendly face and assistance.

As part of Pitsmoor Community Week (4-12 Oct) we are collecting toiletries to be given as gifts.

Please donate new, unopened shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, moisturiser or soap.

There is a box at the back of the church and donations can also be received at the Harvest Cafe Church on 5th October.

Thank you for your generosity

A ‘Thank-you’ from Will & Lucy

Dear everyone at Christ church! Thank you so much for your lovely gifts, prayers and support as we step into this new season at Bradfield. We have felt truly loved and will miss you all greatly! With your financial gifts, we are going to get something for the house to take with us when we move into the Rectory at Bradfield. Please do stay in touch over the year, and hopefully, we will get to connect with you all at different points. A few of you have asked about my licensing and how you can support this. A formal licensing won’t be until my position is confirmed next year, and I can share the details of this when I know more. Please do stay in touch. My new email is willgowers@bradfieldchurch.org. Be assured of my prayers for you all, and please do continue to pray for us in this new season! Also, Sara sends her love. Blessings x
