Dear friends,
Thanks to everyone who helped with and participated in our Community Week. This Sunday Mike Gilbert our Associate Archdeacon is visiting and preaching.
A little word
Whatever gains I had, these I have come to regard as loss because of Christ. More than that, I regard everything as loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Philippians 3.7-8 (NRSV)
There are some people who cannot wait to tell you how great they are, what their latest purchase is, or how marvellous and perfect their life is. The repeated message of the gospel stands in contrast to that. When we are weak, then we are strong, The poor are the truly rich. Worldly wisdom is folly. I could go on. Everything is rubbish if it gets in the way of knowing Jesus. May we be willing to lay aside anything that gets in the way of that goal.
Things to pray for
- Give thanks for the fact that we can be known by and know God.
- For those who work with housing services helping the vulnerable.
- For the churches in our Deanery, especially Shiregreen and Brightside & Wincobank where Zak and Britt respectively have recently started.

How ethical is your energy supplier?
We recently thought about ways we could invest in Kingdom values with our purchases. Our energy bills have an effect on the climate too. If you want to investigate this further, Octopus are offering a £50 donation to the church if you move to them and you get a £50 credit too. Use the link below to get a quote. You will need to decide if this is right for you, and of course there are other providers offering carbon free/renewable tariffs. Pip is happy to talk if you want to know more.
