Weekly news for 2 November 2025

Dear friends,

Final chance to see the photo exhibition in the next couple of days.

A little word

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith Hebrews 12.1-2 (NRSV)

For all the Saints… the hymn that celebrates eternity and has as many verses! I grew up in an All Saints church so it is a day I can remember. The writer tio the Hebrews describes in gory detail in Chapter 11 the fate of the Saints or Heroes of the Faith as they are often refered to. There have been (and continue to be) many Christian Martyrs since this was written. The idea that they are in the grandstands cheering us on as we finish the race is always an encouragement, especially as Jesus is at the finishing line. But Saints are just Holy people, and the new tesytament makes clear that God sees all who decide to follow Jesus as Holy. The posh word is Sanctification. So relax St…….. and finish the race.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for all those who have inspired us and been an example for us to look up to.
  • For Jamaica, that recovery from the storm will be quick, and for all those here worried about relatives.
  • For all those who mourn, and groups who support the bereaved.
