Weekly news for 9.11.25

Dear friends,

This Sunday we will include remembrance at the war memorial in our 10.30 service.

A little word

He shall judge between the nations, and shall arbitrate for many peoples; they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. Isaiah 2. 4 (NRSV)

This prophesy from Isaiah could be interpreted as being at the end of time, but I want to say the Kingdom of God is here, now. So a world free from conflict is what we work for and towards even if it may not come to fruition immediately. I long for the day when war will be no more!

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for all those who act as peacemakers.
  • For conflict zones, for hearts to be changed.
  • For our new Archdeacon, David, as he gets started.
