Weekly news for 25.1.26

Dear friends,

Here is the news for this week.

A little word

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom then shall I fear?  The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom then shall I be afraid? Psalm 27.1 (CW)

We do seem to be living in scary times. World leaders and the Climate are becoming more unpredictable, polarisation of views is becoming more common placeand many fear what the future might hold. I suspect that these thoughts have always been there. Jesus told his disciples not to worry, the Psalmist asks whom should we fear. Both encouraged us to focus on God and be grateful for simple pleaseures ansd everydauy mercies. Perhaps that is the secret; worrying about things we have no power over cannot solve it. Letting God be God and focusing on what we can do, love God and love others as we love ourselves is perhaps the antidote to, and distraction from, fear.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for those things that remind us how blessed we are.
  • For people who feel trapped by fear, that they might be released.
  • For our PCC as they meet this week.
