Dear friends,
Here is the news for this week.
A little word
I was patient while I waited for the Lord. He turned to me and heard my cry for help. I was sliding down into the pit of death, and he pulled me out.
He brought me up out of the mud and dirt. He set my feet on a rock. He gave me a firm place to stand on. He gave me a new song to sing. It is a hymn of praise to our God. Many people will see and have respect for the Lord. They will put their trust in him. Psalm 40.1-3 (NIrV)
We are spoilt for choice with the readings during Epiphany. We are not even having the Psalm this week, it has always been a favourite of mine, burnt into my memory from endless playing of a song based on it by the band U2 in the early 80’s.
The Epiphany revealing is that God reaches out to us. We wait patiently and he makes a move. Many of us can identify that it is often at our lowest that we are most aware of God, perhaps we need to discard the self-help to receive the true help. May your lips sing the song of God’s praise.
Things to pray for
- Give thanks for those times we are especially aware of God reaching out to us.
- For places of unrest in the world, for freedom and peace.
- For Christians locally, nationally and globally, that we might have unity in the gospel of love.
