Dear friends,
We continue our focus on God’s creation. Our Community Week is coming up, make sure you have thought about what you are joining in with and who you might invite.
A little word
‘I have the right to do anything,’ you say – but not everything is beneficial. ‘I have the right to do anything’ – but not everything is constructive. No-one should seek their own good, but the good of others. 1 Corinthians 10.23-24 (NIV)
We tend to think of the rights of the individual as a relatively recent thing, but here is Paul writing 2000 yrs ago on the theme. Corinth was a very ‘modern’ and cosmopolitan place, perhaps that is why they thought like this. Paul in much of his dealings with them was trying to help them understand about the consequences of their freedoms. ‘No man is an island’ comes to mind. What I choose to do and say affects people around me and the planet. I am free, but my freedom has consequences, and needs to be exercised with responsibility and accountability.
Things to pray for
- Give thanks for the opportunities we have to build community together.
- For the church in all places to be welcoming for people of any background where they might find they belong.
- For the ongoing need for peace in our world.

This Week’s Headlines
Christ Church Pitsmoor Community week

This is running from 4-12 October.
Mark it in your diaries, choose what to engage with, and think who you could invite to join in.
Care4Calais
People seeking asylum are often lacking everyday basics that we take for granted. Volunteers with Care4Calais meet at CCP every month to distribute essentials for people living in hostels. They also provide a friendly face and assistance.
As part of Pitsmoor Community Week (4-12 Oct) we are collecting toiletries to be given as gifts.
Please donate new, unopened shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, moisturiser or soap.
There is a box at the back of the church and donations can also be received at the Harvest Cafe Church on 5th October.
Thank you for your generosity
How ethical is your energy supplier?
Last Sunday we thought about ways we could invest in Kingdom values with our purchases. Our energy bills have an effect on the climate too. If you want to investigate this further, Octopus are offering a £50 donation to the church if you move to them and you get a £50 credit too. Use the link below to get a quote. You will need to decide if this is right for you, and of course there are other providers offering carbon free/renewable tariffs. Pip is happy to talk if you want to know more.
