Dear friends,
On Sunday we continue in the Psalms.
A little word
And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” Luke 1.38 (CEV)
Tomorrow (Friday) is the day in the church calendar to remember Mary. Our attitude to Mary has been shaped by the reformation, with Catholics and Protestants falling out over it. The biblical account at the start of Luke’s gospel (read chapter 1, it doesn’t take long) is beautiful. Angels, Elizabeth, Mary… men side-lined! We get the wonderful song, the Magnificat. But above all we get the simple trust and acceptance of Mary. I’m sure she didn’t fully understand what was happening and what it meant, but her answer was ‘Yes’. May it also be to me.
Things to pray for
- Give thanks for those times when we respond to God with a ‘yes’.
- For those receiving exam results, especially for those now needing to alter plans.
- For the talks about peace in Ukraine.
