Weekly news for 24.11.24

Dear Friends,

We are now meeting in the Welcome Centre for everything as the Church refurbishment continues.

A little word

To him was given dominion and glory and kingship, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not pass away, and his kingship is one that shall never be destroyed.  Daniel 7.14 (NRSV)

Sunday is the last one of the church year before we start again with Advent. In Advent we think about the preparation for Jesus coming as a baby, but here we think about Christ the King. I love the juxtaposition. Two very different pictures of one and the same. The aaahness of Christmas and the call on our lives to follow and worship the King. Baby Jesus, King Jesus.. Come set your rule and reign.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for all those who serve King Jesus.
  • For everyone affected by events on our doorstep this week, especially those having to find new places to live.
  • For Burngreave Foodbank and others working with those in need.

Closure of Church for renovations

There is now no access to the Church. The Welcome Centre remains in use and as well as the usual weekday activities we will be meeting ‘upstairs’ on Sundays. If you are going to have access issues with the slope please talk to us, the lift remains in operation and we will do our best to work out a way to get you safely in the building.

The main roof is now painted and some of the new lights are in. The scaffolding is reduced so you can begin to get an idea of how it will look, which will be fantastic.

What’s on? – all in the Welcome Centre

Thursday 10am – Holy Communion followed by refreshments and Lunch Club.
