Weekly news for 7.7.24

Dear Friends,

Here is the update for this week.

A little word

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2.42 (NIV)

The Early Church were desperate to meet together. They met, learnt, ate and prayed. It wasn’t always simple, as our 1 Corinthians reading last Sunday reminded us, but they persevered. The New Testament writers use images like the parts of the body or the stones in a building to describe us together. Fellowship, being together, is the norm. Solo Christians are not what it is about. You plural, not You singular, is most frequently used. When we choose not to met we are all the poorer for it. So let us encourage one another. We all matter.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for each other, together we make a body.
  • For our nation. As MP’s and ministers change. For winners and losers. For a coming together and moving forwards.
  • For the ongoing conflicts around the globe – for peace and hope and comfort.
