Weekly news for 11.2.24

Dear Friends,

This week we change gear and pace as we move into Lent.

A little word

“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Joel 2.12-13 (NIV)

Lent is upon us. It can sometimes be a game of spiritual one-upmanship, as we try to outdo each other with what we have chosen to give up. The real benefit of Lent is an inner transformation, a time for self-reflection and stock-taking. I hope our daily readings and course will help with that process.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks that God is always ready to welcome back those who have drifted away.
  • For our Lent course as we learn from God, the wider church, and each other.
  • For schools and families on a 1/2 term break.
