Weekly news for 18.2.24

Dear Friends,

Please note a couple of up-coming events, details below.

A little word

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1.2-3 (NIV)

At the start of Lent we identify with Jesus’ temptation. We usually see temptations and trials as an entirely negative thing. But as James reminds us, faith that is not stretched is incomplete. Exercise builds muscle strength and flexibility. Vehicles are meant to be used not just looked at. If our faith is a static thing, that is never tested, it will be weak and brittle.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks that God stands with us in our trials.
  • For families struggling with illness.
  • For the upcoming meeting of the General Synod.
