Weekly news for 14.1.24

Dear Friends,

This Sunday come and chat with Alex and Malcolm from the Diocese over a bun after the service.

A little word

O Lord, you have searched me out and known me; … I thank you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;  Psalm 139. 1,13 (CW)

If you can spare a few minutes sit down and read Psalm 139. It is a poem reflecting how special every human soul is to God. It describes God knowing everything about us, intimately. As we continue through Epiphany, thinking about God in Jesus being revealed, this reminds us that he is revealed as the one who knows us better than we know ourselves, and loves us with a passion.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks that God knows and understands everything about us.
  • For our Diocese as we refresh our strategy for the next few years.
  • For Will, our curate, as he celebrates his birthday this week.

7pm Reflective

this week is a meditation.

Refreshments

We all value having a cuppa after services. For that to continue we need at least one other couple/team to go on the rota. Men can make drinks as well as women! Full training can be given if needed. The more volunteers, the less often your turn will come around. Let Maureen or Pip know you would like to go on the rota.

Visiting this Sunday

Archdeacon Malcolm and Alex Shilkoff, Strategic Programme Director, are coming to visit us on Sunday. They are engaging with parishes about the strategy refresh and want to hear from places like Pitsmoor, not just the big rich parishes. All they are asking is for you to chat over coffee and they are bringing buns to encourage you!

Maureen retiring

Maureen is retiring at the end of the month from her roles as Administrator and PCC Secretary. We want to show our appreciation for her many years here, so there will be a card for messages and a collection if you would like to contribute to a gift.
