Weekly news for 7.1.24

Dear Friends,

Welcome back and Happy New Year

A little word

And a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.’      Mark 1.11 (NIV)

During Epiphany we think about Jesus being revealed. At his baptism, Mark records amazing sights and a voice. The voice brought words of affirmation and encouragement. Imagine God saying those words to you, speak them to yourself, and remember how precious you are to God, and how we can reveal Jesus to others as he lives in us and through us.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for each one of us, loved, and pleasing to God.
  • For everyone affected by last week’s tragedy, especially Chris’ family.
  • For all the people working to build up our community.

A voice from Palestine

We all value having a cuppa after services. For that to continue we need at least one other couple/team to go on the rota. Men can make drinks as well as women! Full training can be given if needed. The more volunteers, the less often your turn will come around. Let Maureen or Pip know you would like to go on the rota.

Visiting next week14 Jan

Archdeacon Malcolm and Alex Shilkoff, Strategic Programme Director, are coming to visit us next Sunday. They are engaging with parishes about the strategy refresh and want to hear from places like Pitsmoor not just the big rich parishes. All they are asking is for you to chat over coffee and they are bringing buns to encourage you!

Maureen retiring

Maureen is retiring at the end of the month from her roles as Administrator and PCC Secretary. We want to show our appreciation for her many years here, so there will be a card for messages and a collection if you would like to contribute to a gift.
