Weekly news for 29.1.23

Dear Friends

A reminder that our 10.30 service this week is a joint event at St Peter’s Ellesmere

A little word

Here’s a word you can take to heart and depend on: Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. I’m proof—Public Sinner Number One—of someone who could never have made it apart from sheer mercy.                                                                                                                                                                                                                             I Tim 1.15 (MSG)

This week the Church remembered the conversion of St Paul. Paul can appear dogmatic and harsh in his writings but read them all and you see the tender fatherlike care he had for those he wrote to and had met.

He was driven by a zeal, to help others see the light, as he had, and discover a freedom in Christ. He acknowledged his past, see the quote above, and is a great example of why we should never give up on anyone. There is no one beyond the mercy of God.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks that the mercy of God is so much greater than we can comprehend.
  • For all who live with poor mental health and those who support them.
  • For honesty and integrity in public life and the majority who serve their communities selflessly.
