Dear Friends
Here is an update for this week
A little word
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 1 Corinthians 3.6-7
In MP we have started reading through Paul’s letters to the Corinthian church. I studied it in detail at college manty years ago. They are fascinating glimpses into the life of the early church which in many ways connect with us as I guess, people are people.
The church in Corinth was splitting into factions and following different leaders. Paul here points out that all leaders are only human and nothing we do achieves anything without God. If you have time read the rest of the chapter as he reflects on what we build and whether it has lasting value.
I pray that with God’s help we will build up something of lasting value on the foundation of Christ.
Things to pray for
- Give thanks for signs of God bringing growth.
- For all the upcoming meeting of bishops – as they discern a way forward following the Living in Love & Faith process.
- For the Chocolate Box project working with vulnerable women.
