Weekly news for 3.4.22

Dear Friends

Do remember to check in to our facebook page or the website regularly for updates.

A little word

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”                                                                                                                                          Luke 4.18-19

Jesus quotes Isaiah as he lays out his manifesto. It is one of radical freedom, of justice for the forgotten, ignored, and downtrodden. Much like Mary’s song that we used last Sunday, it is a turning upside down of the accepted values. Jesus calls us to be radical and brave not timid and conforming.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for all who challenge the world to see kingdom values
  • For the work of the Chocolate Box project, especially Ema as she leads it.
  • For all who work in education, and families, as they start the Easter break

Electoral Roll revision and APCM

In advance of our annual meeting the Electoral Roll is being revised. This is the annual update where you can join if you are not already on it. The current roll is on display if you need to check.

If you wish to be added please complete an application form available at the welcome desk.

Please put the APCM date in your diaries. Sunday 8 May straight after the service. Further info will follow nearer the time.

Live Lent

During Lent we will be encouraging you to join us in a daily reading, reflection, and prayer around the theme of justice. There is a little booklet for everyone with all the material you need. Please pick one up. We want everyone to join in. If you want to cover the cost, they are £1.50 each but that is entirely voluntary.

You can download it as an app for your iOS or android smartphone. Search ‘livelent’ in your app store.

On Sunday evenings there will be a reflective space to introduce the weekly theme. We will gather from 6.30pm for a cuppa and start promptly at 7pm for 30-45mins.

Toddler Group

Congratulations to Esther who is starting a new job working with the Vine and St Timothy’s. This will leave a vacancy to join the team running the Toddler group on a Wednesday morning, starting after the Easter holidays.

Thank you to those who have volunteered to form a refreshment team rota. If you would like to help with the session itself, particularly getting to know those who come, talk to Pip.
