Last chance to go on the Church Electoral roll if you aren’t already.
A little word
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength…. You are not far from the kingdom of God. Mark 12.30,34
I was talking to the children in assembly this week about loving God. Trying to explain the difference between heart, soul, mind, and strength only confirmed what I suspected that it probably means anyway; as someone (I’ve forgotten who) said, love God with every fibre of your being.
We tend to a compartmentalised rather than holistic approach to life. Well-being has tried to re-join some of those dots in the approach it takes. There is much in the news at the moment about standards (or lack of them) in public life for our politicians. What you say and what you do must be joined. The church, institutionally, is excellent at writing reports about things, but less good at embedding them in our practise and theology.
Every fibre of your being…. I like that. It’s challenging, and it gives me less wriggle room for hypocrisy!
