Dear Friends
Here is the latest news, do please also check in with the facebook page www.facebook.com/ccpitsmoor/ and website www.pitsmoor.church/ during the week as things do change!
A little word
On God alone my soul in stillness waits; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold, so that I shall never be shaken. Psalm 62.1-2
I hope you are able to find some stillness at the present time. Even with lack of activity we can be far from still. Stillness suggests rest and contentment, the solidity of foothold that the rock metaphor expresses. In the seeming chaos of world and national events I do believe we can find stillness. It is in where we place our trust; what we believe to be true; whom we know the love of.

For Sunday:
Well… I wracked my brains but couldn’t think of anything near as much fun to do in the service as we did last week!
So, a different tack… this week, the challenge is, should you wish to take it, to produce a crown, to sit on your head. It must be as fancy and splendid as you can make it.. but… it must all be out of re-cycled materials.
(As we are preparing to prepare for Christmas there will be a small chocolatey prize for the fanciest!)
Things to pray for
- Give thanks for three simple pleasures that you bring to mind
- for all our schools as they struggle to keep going effectively
- for all victims of hatred and prejudice
We are now shut again for the four weeks of national lockdown.
When the going gets tough, the tough get creative
We have so far come up with lots of fun ideas to keep in touch across the congregation. Do let us know if you would like to join/organize any of them or you have more ideas of your own.
Ideas we had:
Doesn’t involve internet:
- Buddies – commit to keeping in touch some way or another with someone in Church for a month and then do so with another person… a great way of getting to know others.
- Carol singing in twos.
- A paired- up walking group.
Would involve internet:
- A zoom coffee morning.
- A Bible reading Group run by Sue Mate. (could also be phone or WhatsApp?)
- A book reading group.
A Call to Pray in the month of November
The Archbishops of Canterbury and York, have issued a call to pray throughout this renewed period of lockdown and you can find it here
You are invited to pause at 6pm (that is, just as the darkness deepens every evening) to pray for our nation and for the Light of Christ to shine upon it. The hope is that many of us will commit to a daily discipline, for the full 28 days of the lockdown, from Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December.
