Weekly News 27.04.25

Dear Friends,

I hope you all had a lovely Easter. It was wonderful seeing so many at our Easter Sunday Celebration. For those who have been asking…. There were 28 ‘Alleluias’ during the service! Well done if you guessed it right.

A little word

“12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptised by one Spirit so as to form one body – whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free – and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 And so the body is not made up of one part but of many.” 1 Cor 12.12-14 (NIV)

This week, I spoke at Pye Bank School as part of an event run by The Dialogue Society. I used this verse to demonstrate, from a Christian perspective, the value we place on diversity and equality. It was wonderful hearing different faiths’ beliefs and the similarity we share in promoting a diverse community. At the heart of the Easter Story is a message that all get to share in the love of God as equals. It was through one spirit that we were all baptised. At a time in our world when there seems to be a rising focus on what divides us, the inclusivity of Jesus’ death and resurrection shines through. God needs each of us, like the body needs all its parts, to enable Easter’s radical message of love to be heard and seen.

Things to pray for

  • For the ability to celebrate differences and champion each other.
  • For the teachers and children at Pye Bank School.
  • For those who are experiencing pain, hurt, or grief.
