Dear Friends,
We are now meeting in the Welcome Centre for everything as the Church refurbishment gets underway.
A little word
Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are of a fearful heart, ‘Be strong, do not fear! Isaiah 35.3-4 (NRSV)
Friday is St Luke’s day and the above verses are from the OT reading set. Paul describes Luke as the beloved Physician. We may appreciate Dr Luke more for his writing down of the gospel and account of the early church in Acts. As a non Jew he appreciated what it was like to be included and his gospel has a particular emphasis on those on the fringe: Foreigners; sick; religiously unclean; women. On his day it is good to remember the churches role in promoting wholeness and healing, and all those working in healthcare, for whom he is the patron Saint.
Things to pray for
- Give thanks the churches who make a home and a welcome for those on the fringes.
- For charities and peer groups promoting wellbeing.
- For our NHS and all who work in healthcare.

Closure of Church for renovations
There is now no access to the Church. The Welcome Centre remains in use and as well as the usual weekday activities we will be meeting ‘upstairs’ on Sundays. If you are going to have access issues with the slope please talk to us, the lift remains in operation and we will do our best to work out a way to get you safely in the building. Inevitably there will be one or two teething issues to sort out so please let us know how it is going, and lets all pull together.
The work is progressing well, here is a picture of what it looks like
