Weekly news for 18.8.24

Dear Friends,

Here is the update for this week.

A little word

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future..  Jeremiah 29.11 (NIV)

As results come out for the 18+ pupils it is a time of mixed emotions. Elation or disappointment; confirmation or uncertainty; tested or unknown. In a few weeks time the same will be true for the 16 year olds. Some of us had a plan for our futures clearly in our heads, others have come to it later or are still making it up. What would I say to my 18 year old self? “However you are feeling now, there is always a hope and a future with God. One episode does not define you.” Looking back I’d say that everything I have achieved of worth so far, has nothing to do with that day of exam results, and everything to do with God’s promises.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for the promise of a hope and a future
  • For young people making and changing plans, and all those who help and support them.
  • For families taking breaks at home or away on holiday.

Fundraiser – latest update.

Another £500 added this week. We are in touching distance of 70%. Now is the time to donate if you haven’t yet. Our target was always ambitious but we are doing fantastically. We now have a confirmed start date for the work – 7 Oct. More details about changes nearer the time.

Do share the news and campaign with friends and family. If you use facebook do please share the post. You might have friends who would like to donate because they have a link to us from the past.

Link to fundraiser: www.justgiving.com/campaign/ccpitsmoor or you can also give using our Card Machine or with a cheque or cash in the special envelopes on the Welcome Desk.

Summer Services

Now the schools have broken up, we are in our Summer series. Instead of a ‘sermon’ we will have an interview, where we get to know better some of the faces we see at the front, and learn a bit of their story and what motivates them. I hope you enjoy it.

This week is Yvonne.

What’s on?

Wednesday 10am – Stay and Play is on summer break. Re-starts in September.

Thursday 10am – Holy Communion in the Church followed by refreshments. Lunch Club takes a break for August.
