News update for 16.6.24

Dear Friends,

Here is the update for this week.

A little word

“Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I cancelled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ Matt 18.32-33 (NIV)

We confess because we want forgiveness. But we can only be forgiven if others are forgiving. Ultimately that is God. But as we recognise in the Lord’s Prayer, we need to be forgiving people to receive the benefits of forgiveness ourselves. In Jesus’ parable (above) the consequences are massive. We could all do with being a bit easier and gentler on each other and ourselves.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for the freedom we get being forgiven.
  • For all those who get trapped in grudges and past wrongs – individuals and nations.
  • For Toddler Groups and work amongst families in our diocese.

We are excited to welcome Harry Baker back to Christ Church Pitsmoor on Tuesday 25th June at 7:30pm. He brings his new tour, Wonderful:

“After a sellout Edinburgh Fringe Run and subsequent 40-date UK Tour, World Poetry Slam Champion Harry Baker is back with a brand new show celebrating the wonder that is being alive. Featuring brand new poems about death, postcodes and his favourite German wheat bear Schöfferhofer, The maths-loving, TED-talking, German-speaking, battle-rapping, happy-crying, self-bio-writing unashamed human brings his signature playfulness and poignancy that has made him a fan favourite and reached millions of people all over the world.”

Will’s Ordination

Will’s ordination to the priesthood will be on Saturday 29 June at 4pm at Sheffield Cathedral. If you know you want to attend let Pip know as there are some ticketed seats available. (There should be room for everyone we just can’t guarantee you a posh seat!)
