Weekly news for 14.2.21

Dear Friends

Lent starts on Wednesday. Instead of giving something up, why not take up the Lent Course!

Do please also check in with the facebook page www.facebook.com/ccpitsmoor/   and website  www.pitsmoor.church/  during the week as things do change!

A little word

The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouting of a ruler among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one bungler destroys much good.                                                   Ecclesiastes 9. 17-18

Last Sunday Huw introduced us to Wisdom in the book of Proverbs. This week in MP we have had readings from Ecclesiastes, often focussing on wisdom. This morning’s (above) I found especially pertinent. I have observed that there is connection between the volume and pomposity of what is said and its lack of content and depth.

It seems often, that the quieter it is spoken, the more it is worth hearing!

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for those who spread words of wisdom.
  • For children, families and all working in schools as they have a ½ term break. Including Sara.
  • For all those still affected by the building cladding issue – for resolution and freedom from worry.

Eco Church

You will hear much more of this over the coming months as we aim to practise what we preach in every aspect of church life.

We are trying to make our grounds animal friendly and so have a job vacancy for someone to keep our bird feeders stocked at Church. No experience necessary! Apply to Sara.

The next phase of this includes Pitsmoor, Neepsend and Kelham. If you are interested in improving walking, cycling and bus routes into the city please follow the link to see and comment on the plans.
