Dear Friends
We’ve included some important info about live-streaming.
Do please also check in with the facebook page www.facebook.com/ccpitsmoor/ and website www.pitsmoor.church/ during the week as things do change!
A little word
‘All things are lawful’, but not all things are beneficial. ‘All things are lawful’, but not all things build up. Do not seek your own advantage, but that of others. 1 Cor 10.23-24
Some of us who do Morning Prayer are enjoying going through 1 Corinthians. I say enjoying, it is sometimes a struggle. Theologically, linguistically, and culturally we can end up with head scratching.
The above quote is part of a longer discussion on our ‘liberty’ as Christians. I guess where Paul ends up, is that even if it is OK for us to do something, where that liberty results in causing a problem for a brother or sister, we should think carefully. The New Testament writers always see us as part of a body, not individuals.
Perhaps that is why the current circumstances are so difficult. All the points of connection are strained or broken at the moment. We feel a disconnect from the body.
But that message, Do not seek your own advantage, but that of others, seems especially appropriate now. My actions impact others. Let’s all strive for that to be in a positive way.
New for this week

In-Church worship suspended for the foreseeable future
10.30am Morning Worship on Zoom
We are continuing our on-line services. This link will be the same every week.

Meeting ID: 890 3024 9289 Passcode: 238289
Alternatively, for audio only, you can phone in to this number: 0203 901 7895, and follow the instructions.
We are experimenting with live-streaming the service on the Church’s facebook page. You can watch it that way, but you cannot interact as you can on Zoom. The livestream doesn’t show the gallery, only the person talking or the screen share. If you have any concerns about this talk to Pip and we can explain more fully.
If you know people for whom this might enable them to join us, please spread the news.
This week’s reading is Mark 1.40-45
Things to pray for
- Give thanks for people who build us up.
- For all involved in ministering to the bereaved. 100000 deaths means huge numbers of bereaved people.
- For the will to keep going as we seek to look after each other and do the right thing.
