Weekly Update for 4/10/20

Dear Friends

Here is the latest news, but do please also check in with the facebook page www.facebook.com/ccpitsmoor/   and website  www.pitsmoor.church/  during the week.

A little word from Sarah

So he went and did according to the word of the Lord; he went and lived by the Wadi Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the wadi.

1 Kings 17.5-6

So how do you picture Elijah? A great fearless chap, all muscle and strong words? Perhaps he needed to be: he had just begun to confront Ahab- the man who ‘did more to provoke the anger of the Lord than any of the other kings of Israel’.

But before he went any further, God took him aside and bought him to a place of absolute dependence. Dependence firstly on the brook and the ravens, and then on a poor widow, but ultimately on God Himself.

On Saturday, on my knees, I was commissioned to care for those God loves so very much – his people, so that together we can love the world He has created. I am so grateful that first, we took time away remembering that none of us can do it without complete and utter dependence on Him and His love for us.
