Weekly news for 3 August 2025

Dear friends,

On Sunday at Café Church we will be saying our official goodbye to Will & Lucy and family. I hope you can join us.

A little word

I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people. Philemon 6-7 (NIV)

These words of St Paul to his colleague Philemon seem particularly apt as we say goodbye to Will. Will has brought enthusiasm and good humour, he has been a willing learner, and as we have steered the path of the disruption of a major building project, he has brought refreshment, encouragement and perspective. Café Church is good place to end, as he has been instrumental in getting it going. He and Lucy have done great work with Stay & Play too. They are not going far, but we will all miss them. I hope you can join me in wishing them joy and encouragement in the new role in Bradfield.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for all that Will and family have brought to us, and for settling in well in a fresh start.
  • For the people of Gaza. For all those with the influence to bring about a just settlement for the future.
  • For festivals, camps, and holiday clubs happening over the summer.

Will has been offered a Curate in Charge position at St Nicholas Church in High Bradfield, with the opportunity of a 5-year revitalisation project next year with Wadsley Church. He will start in September.
