Weekly news for 1.6.25

Dear Friends,

This week Café Church will focus on the Ascension.

A little word

And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high. Luke 24.49 (NRSV)

Ascension Day was today (Thursday), Pentecost comes a week Sunday. For the Disciples there was a ten day wait from Jesus leaving them until the Holy Sprit came with power from on high. Why is the Ascension important? Because in some way Jesus was limited whilst he was in his incarnational form. When the Holy Spirit came , in some mystical way, all believers everywhere were able to experience the very presence of God with them. One event was the precursor to the other. Why not take these ten days and ask God to be more real to you and to commit to listening more carefully for God’s voice.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for the anticipation of all that God can do in your life.
  • For the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza – and those with influence, to act justly.
  • For Leah announced as the Bishop of Doncaster designate.
