Weekly news for 18.5.25

Dear Friends,

Breakfast Baps on Sunday in support of Christian Aid. Yum, yum.

A little word

And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 (NIV)

As we think about the work of Christian Aid this week this familiar verse from the prophet Micah came to mind. Justice, mercy, love and humility are at the heart of the story of God and God’s people. They should be at the heart of our story too, individually and collectively. It is why as a church we do lots of the things that we do amogst those we see and meet, but also why we support those who do it amongst those we will never meet but for whom we share a common humanity. As you watch the news this week think about the international emergencies and long term development work that is so vital.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for the works of compassion and development supported by Christian Aid and others.
  • For those who will serve our church on the PCC this year as we meet on Monday.
  • For those refugees and immigrants in our country who find the recent language and narrative intimidating.
