Weekly news for 13.4.25

Dear Friends,

On Sunday we welcome Bishop Pete. We will be marking our fresh start in the building as we bring to a close almost three years of disruption.

A little word 

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3.22-23 (NIV)

When I look back over the last (almost) three years it has been the strangest time of my whole ministerial career (except perhaps COVID). I have had to learn new skills, let some things go, acknowledge the frustration, and to some degree tread water rather than moving forward. I’d like to think that is now behind us. Bishop Pete will celebrate that fact with us on Sunday. I would never have chosen this path but I think we can all agree that where we have ended up with the building is something we could never have achieved on our own. We now need to honour all that endeavour and God’s faithfulness and start looking to the the future as we build God’s kingdom in our little patch.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for all we have to look forward to.
  • For our Holy Week activities as we witness to and remember all that Jesus has done.
  • For the transformational peace of God to be felt in places of conflict and heartache around the world.

Palm Sunday- this week we welcome Bishop Pete.

Reading: Psalm 118.1-2,19-29 and Luke 19.28-40

CoGs, our children’s group meets this week. Refreshments are available after the service.

6pm Lent Course in Welcome Centre

Watch ‘The Chosen’, a dramatization of the gospel. Cake and hot drinks as you arrive.

Lent – this is the last week

Lent Course – this year we are going to watch episodes of The Chosen which is a dramatisation of the Gospel story. There will be opportunity to reflect on what we have seen. There are two choices: Sunday evenings 6-7.30pm in the Welcome Centre with hot drinks and cake or Tuesday Lunchtimes 12.30pm at St Peter’s with soup and a roll.

Our Annual meeting is on 11 May. This is the year you have to reapply to be on the church Electoral Roll. Fill in a form on the welcome desk and pop it in the box.
