Dear Friends
Here is the latest news, but do please also check in with the facebook page www.facebook.com/ccpitsmoor/ and website www.pitsmoor.church/ during the week.
Don’t forget the clocks change this weekend.
A little word
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10.24-25
I hope this doesn’t feel glib as we are about to go into tier 3! Of course, we are learning that ‘meeting’ doesn’t always mean physically. I meet Pye Bank each week for assembly on Zoom. We have been doing that for months too on Sunday’s. There has been lots of phoning, and socially distanced walks in the fresh air.
It feels a bit like we need to dig in for the long haul. We are going to try a buddy system to encourage us to contact each other. We don’t want to lose touch with folk. Do sign up when you see the invite.
There is a lot of ‘love and good deeds’ happening. Members of Christchurch are working as key workers, manning foodbanks, supporting vulnerable relatives and neighbours, walking with the grieving, enabling the local Covid response and beautifying our neighbourhood. Thank you, thank you for being an encouragement.

Things to pray for
- Give thanks for all those signs of encouragement that lift our spirits
- for our response as a church to the continuing restrictions on church and family life
- for families during this unusual half-term week
Annual Church Meeting
Thursday 29 Oct at 7pm.
To keep people as safe as possible we will do it in a mixed format with a zoom link for online or socially distanced attendance in person. Please use the zoom option if you are able to.
We need to meet to elect 2x Church Wardens, 2x Deputy Wardens, 2x Deanery Synod reps & 4x PCC reps, (there are also 4x vacancies on the PCC unfilled). To find out more or nominate someone please contact Maureen (office@pitsmoor.church or 07765 232789). We will be able to accept nominations by phone and email as well as a form. Each vacancy needs consent of the candidate plus a proposer and seconder (all 3 must be on the Electoral Roll).
Remembrance Sunday 8 Nov
We will have an act of Remembrance around the war memorial at the end of our 9am service in Church.
In the evening we will have the church open from 5pm for those who would like to light a candle or record a name of someone they have lost. At six we will have a short act of worship to draw it all together. Folk can just pop in or stay longer. Please get this message out to those you know who are grieving. All the usual social distancing arrangements will apply. If someone would like us to do it on their behalf, because they can’t attend, they can contact Pip to leave details.
Just a gentle reminder to all our key holders… access to the building is still on a limited basis. You must ask permission from Pip if you wish to go in for anything. We need to keep everyone safe. QR code check-in is now available if you have the NHS Covid-19 app.
