Dear Friends,
Here’s the update for the week
A little word
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Matthew 5.14 (NIV)
The contrast between light and dark comes frequently in our liturgy at this time of year and is repeated many times in the scriptures. After the clock change the days do seem so much shorter. And the world in many ways seems like quite a dark place at present.
But Jesus calls us to be light, his light. And the fact that our light cannot be hidden might make us think about what we are revealing. The discussions at general synod this week are important, but we must remind ourselves that the things we hold in common are so much more than the things we might disagree on.
Shining a light on how to love each other and be good neighbours, how to stand for justice, how to treasure all of creation are equally important.
Things to pray for
- Give thanks for the light of Christ in us.
- For our PCC meeting on Monday.
- For refugees and Asylum seekers, and their fair treatment.
