Weekly news for 4.7.21

Dear Friends

I hope you were able to keep up with things with the hiccup on the email version. Technology grrr!

Do please also check in with the facebook page www.facebook.com/ccpitsmoor/   and website  www.pitsmoor.church/  during the week as things do change!

A little word

Your word is a lantern to my feet and a light upon my path.                                                                          Psalm 119.105

Some people think of there being one right path to find and follow. Others think in terms of different paths with the same final destination. Psalm 119 is a beautiful poetic meditation on the word of God. I wonder if the point of likening the word to a lamp is that it is portable. The word is more a torch with all its mobility as opposed to fixed static streetlights. The times we find ourselves on a dodgy path are precisely the moments we need that illumination. Jesus, the light of the word, is alongside us, wherever we find ourselves.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for those times you have seen the light in dark places.
  • for our ‘twinned’ deanery of Hallam.
  • for countries trying to live with the effects of climate change.

So, who brings out the best in you? Who lets you be the person you are?

This Sunday at 10.30, All Age Worship is Zooming again, and we are going to be thinking about Jesus trusting us…. to be the brilliant people He made us to be.

Adults: to fully participate, it would be great if you could supply yourself with – a paper plate or similar, a sheet of paper and writing materials and two disposable cups and a length of string.

Midweek Communion

We have restarted on Thursdays at 10am. It will be lovely to welcome you back.

Pop-up Vaccination Centre

Christ Church is hosting a pop-up clinic on Friday 9 July from 1-4pm. It will be open to anyone over 18 for a first or second dose of the Pfizer jab. A Slovak speaker will be present.

More publicity should be out soon but do spread the word in the community.

CoGs leadership

A reminder that as we start to make plans for our children’s work returning, we need some new people to join the team. Sara or Pip would be delighted to tell you more about what might be involved.
