Weekly news for 30.5.21

Dear Friends

Do please also check in with the facebook page www.facebook.com/ccpitsmoor/   and website  www.pitsmoor.church/  during the week as things do change!

A little word

‘Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I shall depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.’                                                                                                                             Job 1.21

MP is serving up the delights of Job. Actually, there is some good stuff in there. The words of Job above, come after he has lost not only his possessions but more importantly his children. You can read it as fatalism. I read it as trust in divine provenance. God is god and must know best, or maybe more comfortably, God is bigger than anything that can happen to me. When we are at our lowest, we may be tempted to give up on God, that must be a desperately lonely place. I have to believe that whatever we think and feel, God will never give up on us.

Things to pray for

  • Give thanks for the unending and unchanging love of God.
  • for those who struggle to hold on to faith in bad times.
  • for the many grieving families around the world.
