Weekly news for 31.5.20

Dear Friends

Here is the latest news, but do please also check in with the facebook page www.facebook.com/ccpitsmoor/   and website  www.pitsmoor.church/  during the week.

A little word

The Lord does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

 Isaiah 40.28-end

I memorised these verses, well the last bit anyway, as an 8 yr. old (or thereabouts). The whole chapter is one of my favourites; Eric Liddell (Chariots of Fire) quotes it in his sermon when he isn’t running the Olympic sprint, the nations are but a drop in a bucket, watch the film if you can find it, you’ve got time!

Anyway, the point is about waiting for/on the Lord. So much of what we thought we could rely, depend, trust on or in has proved flawed, useless or simply irrelevant. Maybe as we wait we will rediscover where our strength lies.

A little word on giving

Our finances are just about managing. Income is down by about 50% and we have lost all the Welcome Centre income. Thankfully bills will be lower but there are still lots of regular outgoings.

If you are able to find an alternative to cash or envelopes that would be great.

You can pay direct into the bank using

Christ Church Pitsmoor

If you are a taxpayer who utilises gift-aid our preferred method for you is the Parish Giving Scheme; they have now got a telephone sign-up system in place.

Call the dedicated telephone line:            0333 002 1271

One of their administrators will take you through the sign up process – this normally takes around 15

minutes. You will need to have the following information to hand:

• Personal bank account details

• The name of the parish: Christ Church Pitsmoor

• You will need to confirm if you want to increase your gift in line with inflation each year

• Confirm if you are eligible for Gift Aid

• The PGS code for the parish:  350635050
