Weekly news for 24.5.20

Dear Friends

Here is the latest news, but do please also check in with the facebook page www.facebook.com/ccpitsmoor/   and website  www.pitsmoor.church/  during the week.

A little word

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say…“Your God reigns!”

Isaiah 52:7 (NIV)

I read these words this morning, and straight away I started singing. You may too remember ‘Our God reigns’ from the 70’s. I think my heart soared partly because I’m getting fed up with negativity and cynicism. It is of course right that those in authority are held to account but this constant naval gazing and carping is getting me down.

There are good news stories, there are wonderful examples of bravery, courage, compassion and love. I was challenged to ask myself what good news have I brought this week? and to whom? Let’s all aim for beautiful feet this week.

Before the service:

Have a go at drawing something you have done where you saw God at work this week and bring it with you to the service (don’t be shy! Sara’s involved a box of chocolates!)

Sara and Bill are taking a week off this week before supply work starts again (perhaps?!)… so please don’t mind if Sara doesn’t pick up the phone. =)

During these 10 days between Ascension Day and Pentecost we are praying for the growth of the kingdom. If you could commit to pray for someone, (up to 5 friends is the suggestion) there will be a daily suggestion on the Christ Church facebook page.

A little word on giving

Our finances are just about managing. Income is down by about 50% and we have lost all the Welcome Centre income. Thankfully bills will be lower but there are still lots of regular outgoings.

If you are able to find an alternative to cash or envelopes that would be great.

You can pay direct into the bank using

If you are a taxpayer who utilises gift-aid our preferred method for you is the Parish Giving Scheme; they have now got a telephone sign-up system in place.

Call the dedicated telephone line:            0333 002 1271

One of their administrators will take you through the sign up process – this normally takes around 15

minutes. You will need to have the following information to hand:

• Personal bank account details

• The name of the parish: Christ Church Pitsmoor

• You will need to confirm if you want to increase your gift in line with inflation each year

• Confirm if you are eligible for Gift Aid

• The PGS code for the parish:  350635050
